ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Jon Rheault scored a hat trick for Ontario while Anthony Peluso and Brock McBride each contributed a goal and an assist for Alaska, with the Reign eventually prevailing 4-3 in a shootout before 5,607 Saturday at Sullivan Arena.

Each club netted four of a possible six points in the three-game series, with the Aces remaining in fourth place in the National Conference at 65 points, exactly matching the 29-26-7 record of its next opponent, the resurgent Las Vegas Wranglers.  The teams meet in Vegas next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 6:05 p.m. AT.  All three games will be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, with live coverage getting underway at 5:45 p.m.  Alaska owns a 5-2-1 record against the Wranglers this season, with both losses coming in Las Vegas back in October.

McBride's 10th goal in 28 ECHL games gave Alaska a 1-0 edge at 11:54 of the opening period, but Rheault tied the contest with his first goal of the night 69 seconds later.  Peluso countered but stuffing home a centering pass from Scott Burt with 1:58 left in the frame, putting the Aces ahead 2-1 at the break.  Tyson Marsh stretched the lead to 3-1 with a power play goal at 3:15 of the second period, but Alaska quickly took a pair of penalties, providing Ontario with a five-on-three power play.

Rheault scored back-to-back goals 45 seconds apart, the second when a Tim Kraus shot glanced off his skate, and less than three minutes after enjoying a two-goal margin, the Aces found themselves tied.  The game remained deadlocked through the remaining 35 minutes of regulation and overtime, with the Reign holding a slight edge in shots, 34-28.  The shootout scorers from Wednesday's tilt (won by Ontario 5-4) remained the same, as only Nick Mazzolini could beat Reign rookie Mike Zacharias, who again replaced starter Curtis Darling for the skills competition.  Meanwhile, Michael Pelech and Chad Starling scored in the third and fifth rounds, respectively, as they had on Wednesday.  Scott Reid, who finished with 31 saves, remains unbeaten in five starts against Ontario (3-0-2), while the Aces stayed unbeaten in their last 13 games at home (10-0-3) dating to January 9.
