MILLER RETURNS, DeBOER ADDED TO ACES LINEUP

Jul 20th, 2010

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have signed veteran defenseman Bryan Miller and rookie winger Addison DeBoer to one-year contracts for the 2010-11 season.

Miller returns for his fourth year as an Ace, having been named to the 2008 National Conference All-Star team in his first season with the Aces and leading the club to the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals in his second campaign, when he racked up career-highs in assists (30) and points (40).  The 27-year-old fell just one shy of matching those totals last year, finishing with 39 points (10g-29a), then leading the club with three goals and six assists in a four-game playoff loss to Stockton.  Miller, a four-year standout at Boston University before turning pro in the spring of 2005, becomes one of four Aces eligible to play this season with 260 or more pro games experience (he has 271).  He owns two career hat tricks with Alaska, scoring the game-winner as part of his outburst to beat Fresno in November of 2007, and adding an assist to go along with his three goals in 8-7 overtime loss at Las Vegas last March.

DeBoer (pictured, courtesy CC sports information) was a two-time member of the All-WCHA Academic Team at Colorado College, where he racked up a career-high 14 points (5g-9a) last season as a senior, including a goal and an assist in a 5-3 WCHA playoff win at Minnesota-Duluth.  The 22-year-old DeBoer (pronounced duh-BOAR) scored two game-winning goals on the road as a junior, beating UAA and Minnesota.  In 136 games for the Tigers, the six-foot, 180-pound Minnesota native scored 14 goals and assisted on 20 others.  His uncle, Heath, was drafted in 1988 by Alaska's current NHL affiliate, the St. Louis Blues.
