ACES END REGULAR SEASON WITH 6-1 LOSS IN ONTARIO

The Alaska Aces closed the 2011-2012 season with a 6-1 loss to the Ontario Reign Saturday night at Citizens Business Banks Arena.  Alaska finished the season with a 43-18-11 record, matching the 97 points the club posted last year.  The Aces finished the season as the Mountain Division, Western Conference, and Brabham Cup Champions for the second consecutive season.  The Aces will return home to the Sullivan Arena to host Games 1 and 2 of the Conference Semifinals on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th against either the Colorado Eagles or Stockt [READ MORE]

ACES GET POINT TO CLAIM BRABHAM CUP

The Alaska Aces became the first team in ECHL history to win the Brabham Cup three times and the first to win it in back-to-back seasons, despite a 2-1 overtime loss to the Ontario Reign Friday night at Citizens Business Banks Arena.  The Aces gained a point to improve to 97 on the year securing the league’s highest point total for the second consecutive season. ACES ANNOUNCE FIRST PLAYOFF HOME DATES

The Alaska Aces are pleased to announce that they will host Games 1 & 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th at 7:15pm at Sullivan Arena.  The games will be the first for the Aces in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs, after receiving an opening-round bye as the regular season Western Conference Champions.  Individual tickets to playoff games will go on sale at 9am AKT on Monday morning, and are available at the Aces office, located at the corner of 15th Ave. [READ MORE]

ACES SIGN DEFENSEMAN BROCK SHELGREN

GENTILE RETURNED TO ACES FROM AHL

Alaska Aces defenseman Brandon Gentile has been returned to the Aces from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Tuesday.  Gentile was on loan in the AHL for the last two and a half months, and is expected to be in the Aces lineup on Tuesday when the club visits Las Vegas.  The Aces magic number to clinch the Brabham Cup and the Western Conference top seed is four points entering Tuesday night.  The Aces finish the season on the road this week beginning in Las Vegas on Tuesday and Bakersfield on Wednesday. WES GOLDIE BREAKS ECHL GOAL-SCORING RECORD

Alaska Aces forward Wes Goldie scored a goal 8:23 into the first period of Alaska’s game at Ontario on Saturday night, giving him 369 career ECHL goals and breaking the career mark of 368 goals held by 2009 ECHL Hall of Fame inductee Rod Taylor. Goldie is now the all-time leader in ECHL goal scoring. Wes Goldie broke the most prestigious record in ECHL history, and the Alaska Aces salvaged a point with a key goal late in regulation, but the Aces fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Ontario Reign on Saturday night from the Citizens Business Bank Arena.  Alaska picked up a point for the 13th time in the last 15 games, and kept a four point lead over Ontario in the Western Conference standings.  Alaska lowered their magic number to clinch the Brabham Cup for the league’s best record to four points.  The Aces moved to 42-16-10 on the season, climbing to 94 points. ACES EDGE REIGN 4-3 FOR DRAMATIC WIN

Dan Kissel broke a 3-3 tie in the final minute of regulation to lead the Alaska Aces to a 4-3 regulation win over the Ontario Reign on Friday night from the Citizens Business Bank Arena. COLEMAN RETURNS TO ACES FROM AHL

Alaska Aces goaltender Gerald Coleman has been loaned to the Aces by the Lake Erie Monsters of the ECHL, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Thursday.  Coleman, who was loaned by the Aces to Lake Erie on January 11, spent the last two-plus month with the AHL club.  He signed an AHL contract with the Monsters and is set to return to the Aces lineup this weekend for a pivotal pair of games in Ontario.  The Aces will continue their season-ending road trip with a key visit to play the Reign on Friday and Saturday night.  Alaska’s lead over Ontario for the Western Confere [READ MORE]

ACES SIGN FORWARD TIM HALL TO ATO

GOLDIE MAKES HISTORY AS ACES SWEEP EAGLES WITH 4-1 WIN

ACES ACQUIRE CRUTHERS FROM READING

The Alaska Aces made a big move on Thursday’s ECHL trading deadline by acquiring forward Ryan Cruthers from the Reading Royals in exchange for Ethan Cox and future considerations, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray has announced.  Cruthers served as the Royals team captain this season and is the all-time leading scorer in Reading history.  He is expected to join the Aces in time for their weekend series against the Colorado Eagles.  The Aces and Eagles are the top two teams in the Mountain Division, and square off in the final regular season home games for Alaska.  For more info [READ MORE]

Shane Owen made 20 saves in his Alaska Aces debut, and the Aces trailed for only 59 seconds of the game, but the Stockton Thunder outlasted Alaska for a 4-3 shootout win in the final meeting of the season between the clubs on Sunday afternoon. Alaska lifted their lead in the Western Conference to four points over Las Vegas and five points over Ontario who were both idle on Sunday. Alaska moved to 37-15-9, on the season. The Alaska Aces have acquired goaltender Shane Owen from the Florida Everblades in exchange for future considerations, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Saturday.
