LAFRANCHISE RETURNS TO ACES FROM AHL

(Photo courtesy of Steven Christy/OKC Barons) Alaska Aces defenseman Kane Lafranchise has been returned from loan with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced on Thursday morning.  Lafranchise is expected to rejoin Alaska’s lineup this weekend when the club plays two games in Las Vegas. The Aces visit the Wranglers on Friday and Saturday before returning home to host the Stockton Thunder for three straight games beginning February 8. [READ MORE]

ACES ACQUIRE BENNETT FROM ORLANDO FOR REID

Gerald Coleman made 31 saves and the Alaska Aces held off a furious late-game attack to beat the San Francisco Bulls 2-1 in front of 5,206 fans at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night.  The win gave Alaska points in three of the last four games and kept the Aces one point in front of the Ontario Reign for the most points in the ECHL. ACES TOP STEELHEADS 4-3 IN THRILLER

Nick Mazzolini broke a tie score in the final five minutes of regulation to lead the Alaska Aces past the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 on Saturday night from CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.  The Aces got three points from new defenseman Mike Baran, had four different goal scorers, and beat Idaho for the first time this season. ACES FALL 3-1 TO REIGN ENDING STREAKS

Anchorage resident, Drew O’Connell made 20 saves on 21 shots in his first career start, coming in emergency relief, and led the Ontario Reign to a 3-1 win over the Alaska Aces on Saturday night from Sullivan Arena.  The Aces lost in regulation for the first time in a month, snapping a 13-game point streak, and eight-game home winning streak. ACES STREAKS CONTINUE WITH 4-1 WIN OVER REIGN

Nick Mazzolini scored two goals and added an assist, and Mark Guggenberger made 23 saves on 24 shots as the Alaska Aces beat the Ontario Reign 4-1 at Sullivan Arena on Friday night in front of 4,944 fans.  The Aces extended their home winning streak to eight games, and their point streak to 13 games (12-0-1), tying for the second longest in club history. Alaska leads the ECHL with a 30-8-1 record. The Alaska Aces scored three goals in 6:36 late in the second period to erase a three-goal deficit and outlasted the Ontario Reign through six rounds of a shootout for a wild 4-3 comeback win at Sullivan Arena on Wednesday night.  The Aces extended their point streak to 12 games (11-0-1), their home winning streak to seven games, and their league-best record to 29-8-1 record. ACES FOURSOME RETURN TO NHL, SYVRET LOANED TO AHL TORONTO

The Alaska Aces suspended NHL-contracted forwards, Scott Gomez, Brandon Dubinsky, Joey Crabb, and Nate Thompson and loaned defenseman Corey Syvret to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League as part of a transaction-filled Tuesday, Aces Head Coach Rob Murray announced.  The forwards will return to their NHL teams with the season expected to begin next week. Joey Crabb scored twice and Gerald Coleman made 37 saves on 38 shots to help the Alaska Aces open 2013 with a 3-1 win against the Stockton Thunder on Friday night from Stockton Arena.  It was the final visit to Stockton this year for the Aces, who won their fifth straight game against their conference foe. ROB MURRAY SELECTED AS 2013 ECHL ALL-STAR HEAD COACH

Alaska Aces Head Coach, Rob Murray was named the Head Coach for the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game presented by University of Colorado Health on Friday, the Aces and the league announced on Friday morning. Murray was selected as the Head Coach by guiding the Aces to the ECHL’s top winning percentage through games of December 30, 2012.  Murray will lead a team comprised of league-wide All-Stars against the Colorado Eagles in this year’s format.
