PREVIEW: Aces-Condors

The Alaska Aces return home Friday night and welcome the Bakersfield Condors for the first of three games in as many days at Sullivan Arena. It is the first of seven meetings between the two teams this season. The Aces hold an all-time record of 47-26-4 against the Condors, dating back to the 2003-04 season which was their first in the ECHL. All-Star Game-type festivities will come to Sullivan Arena for two Aces games against the Stockton Thunder for "Hockey Heritage Weekend in February. BROSSOIT COMING BACK, ORTIO TO AHL

The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced that goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been reassigned to the Aces from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League and goatlender Joni Ortio has been recalled to Abbotsford. The Heat are the AHL affiliate of the Aces and Flames. Brossoit, 20, is 0-1-0 in two games with Abbotsford this season and spent the preseason with the Aces. He appeared in one preseason game with Alaska, making 22 saves on Oct. 8 vs. Cincinnati. [READ MORE]

RECAP: Lock Down

Goaltender Joni Ortio made 18 saves for his second shutout in four games and the Alaska Aces skated away with a 3-0 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers, before 3,822 fans at Orleans Arena on Sunday. Ortio helped the Aces improve to 3-1-0 (4 points) on the season, ensured of first place in the Western Conference by the end of Sunday. Tim Coffman, in just his fourth game with the Alaska Aces, enjoyed a two goal and two assist effort and the Aces demolished the Las Vegas Wranglers in a 7-2 victory before 4,144 fans at Orleans Arena on Saturday night.The Aces, who blistered a season high 46 shots on goal and have 100 shots in the two games against Las Vegas, ripped off seven unanswered goals in response to a 2-0 deficit in the first period. Andy Taranto’s goal with 4:46 left in regulation, his second of the game, broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Alaska Aces to a 3-2 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers before a crowd of 4,147 at Orleans Arena on Friday night.The Aces, who won their road opener of the 2013-14 season on the same night that Nick Mazzolini was named captain, owned a 44-16 shots advantage and outshot the Wranglers 23-2 during a stretch over the first and second period. EDDY ASSIGNED FROM ABBOTSFORD

The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced that forward David Eddy has been assigned to the Aces from the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League. Abbotsford is the AHL affiliate of the Aces and Flames. Eddy, 23, earned 16 points and 61 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Utah Grizzlies (ECHL) and appeared in ten games with Abbotsford last season.
