Gerald Coleman made 28 saves while Tyler Mosienko’s third period power play goal stood as the game winner to lift the Alaska Aces (35-15-4, 74 points) to a 2-1 victory over the Utah Grizzlies before a crowd of 6,669 at Maverik Center on Friday. The Aces handed Utah their sixth regulation loss in 31 games since Christmas and went 2-of-6 on the power play. They also improved to 6-1-0 in the head to head series and 12-8-3 on the road. ACES GET BELZILE FROM GWINNETT

The Alaska Aces, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, announced today that the team has acquired right wing Alex Belzile (Bel-ZEEL) from the Gwinnett Gladiators in exchange for the rights to goaltender Mark Guggenberger and forward Jordan Kremyr (KREM-ur) has been loaned to the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League. ORTIO TAKES THE NHL STAGE

Goaltender Joni Ortio, who suited up this season for the Alaska Aces, became the first player this season to play for the Aces and in the National Hockey League after making 22 saves for the Calgary Flames on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Kings at Scotiabank Saddledome. Pat Nagle’s save on Tyler Mosienko in the sixth round helped the Idaho Steelheads hold off the Alaska Aces (34-15-4, 72 points), 6-5 in a shootout before 4,469 fans at CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday. The Aces rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the third period and were led by Nick Mazzolini’s two goals while Peter Sivak recorded three assists and five different players registered multi-point games. Back to back goals by Andy Taranto and Jordan Morrison lifted the Alaska Aces (34-15-3, 71 points) in a third period rally, defeating the Ontario Reign 3-2 before a crowd of 5,530 at Sullivan Arena on Saturday. Laurent Brossoit made 27 saves for his sixth shutout of the season and the Bakersfield Condors blanked the Alaska Aces (32-14-3, 67 points), 3-0 before 3,460 fans at Rabobank Arena on Monday. Andy Taranto collected his first career ECHL hat trick and Tyler Mosienko earned a pair of assists in his debut to help the Alaska Aces (32-12-3, 67 points) blow out the Ontario Reign in a 6-2 victory before 9,584 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Saturday. Greg Miller’s power play goal in the third period was enough to hold off the Alaska Aces (31-12-3, 65 points), who fell in a 4-3 defeat to the Stockton Thunder in a five-game series finale on Thursday at Sullivan Arena. The Aces, who maintained the top record in the ECHL, surrendered three power play goals to the top power play unit in the ECHL, despite a rally in the final minutes of regulation. Two games with nearly 11,000 fans, a display presented by the Hockey Hall of Fame and the induction of the seventh class into the ECHL Hall of Fame highlighted the 2014 ECHL Hockey Heritage Weekend presented by CCM. Hosted by the Alaska Aces, Hockey Heritage Weekend included a pair of games featuring the Aces taking on the Stockton Thunder. Brendan Connolly’s 14th goal of the season broke a 1-1 tie in the third period, standing as the game winner in a 3-1 victory for the Alaska Aces over the Stockton Thunder on Tuesday night at Sullivan Arena.
