ACES OPEN 2015-16 SEASON OCT. 16

The Alaska Aces, three-time Kelly Cup champions, today announced their 13th season of ECHL play will open at Sullivan Arena on Friday, Oct. 16 in a three-game series against the Missouri Mavericks, launching a 72-game schedule featuring nine new opponents and three matchups with three former Kelly Cup Finals opponents. The Alaska Aces thank you for your loyal, passionate and undying support! For the 12th straight season, the Aces reached 20 wins at Sullivan Arena and drew over 16,000 fans at home for the final three games of the regular season. The Aces sent Olivier Archambault to the ECHL All-Star Classic as a starting forward, had forward Brendan Connolly named as an All-ECHL (2nd team) forward, and had Greg Wolfe finish as a runner up for the ECHL Rookie of the Year Award. RAMAGE MAKES NHL DEBUT

Defenseman John Ramage, last suiting up for the Alaska Aces in 2013-14, became the second player this season to previously play for the Aces and advance to the National Hockey League after suiting up today for the Calgary Flames, in a 5-1 defeat to the Winnipeg Jets at MTS Centre.   Ramage, 24, joins Laurent Brossoit (Edmonton) as the two players this season, and 13 overall, to skate for the Aces and advance to make their NHL debut. PLAYING TO THE CROWD

Chris Francis and Greg Wolfe registered multi point games while Niklas Lundstrom made 33 saves, helping the Alaska Aces defeat the Ontario Reign, 3-1 before a crowd of 5,419 at Sullivan Arena on Friday night. The Aces, snapping a four-game losing streak, scored all three goals in the second period and cruised to a 3-0 lead en route to the wire-to-wire victory. They were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention by the end of the first period after Utah defeated Colorado, 3-2 in overtime, ending a streak of 11 consecutive seasons qualifying for the postseason. Jussi Oklinuora made 42 saves, one off his career-high, and Judd Blackwater supplied two goals and an assist to lift the Ontario Reign over the Alaska Aces, 4-1 before a crowd of 5,004 at Sullivan Arena on Wednesday. The Aces avoided playoff elimination with Idaho defeating Utah, 7-3 earlier in the evening, but need a minimum of three points, with two games to play, to qualify for the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Goaltender Igor Bobkov topped his season high with a 39-save shutout and the Utah Grizzlies held off the Alaska Aces for the second straight night, 3-0 before 5,634 fans at Maverik Center at Saturday. The Alaska Aces, three time Kelly Cup champions, have agreed to terms with rookie free agent defenseman Justin Hamonic, Aces head coach Rob Murray announced today. RENWICK CAPTURES PLUS-MINUS HONOR

The Alaska Aces, three time Kelly Cup champions, announced today that defenseman Evan Renwick has been named co-recipient of the AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month Award (March). Renwick shares the award with Riley Brace of Florida, and both finished with a +17 rating during the month.   Renwick posted an even or better rating in all 10 games he played during the month, and ended March by posting back-to-back +4 ratings in an 8-4 win at Bakersfield on March 24 and in a 10-2 victory at Stockton on March 27.   [READ MORE]

The Alaska Aces took their largest margin of defeat this season, marked by Zack Kamrass’ first two career goals, 5-0 to the Idaho Steelheads before 3,251 fans at CenturyLink Arena on Wednesday night. Goaltender Olivier Roy earned his fourth shutout of the season and the Aces had their five game road win streak halted, tying the fourth longest mark in club history.
