Sell-out crowd watches Barney debut; Aces fall to Colorado

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – 45 year old Aces rookie goaltender Jeff Barney made 21 saves, but Colorado scored 4 second period goals on their way to a 5-3 win over Alaska Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd at the Sullivan Arena. Barney, a 25 year emergency backup goaltender, got his first career start and did well over his 58 minute 26 second stint between the pipes. Hafner, Sivak lead Aces to 2-0 win Friday over Colorado

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Goaltender Lukas Hafner made 34 saves for his first professional shutout, and winger Peter Sivak scored his 100th career ECHL goal as the Alaska Aces knocked off the Colorado Eagles 2-0 Friday night at the Sullivan Arena. No scoring in the first period as each team enjoyed limited offensive opportunities. Alaska outshot Colorado 10-6 in the first 20 minutes, with the Aces getting the only power play of the period. WILLIAM WRENN NAMED TO ALL-ECHL SECOND TEAM

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -The Alaska Aces have announced that defenseman William Wrenn has been named to the All-ECHL second team after a vote by league officials, media members and individual team officials.Aces Coach and President of Hockey Operations Rob Murray made the announcement Thursday.Wrenn, a native of Anchorage, is currently on loan to AHL Utica.Wrenn ranks second among ECHL defensemen with 37 assists and is tied for third with 41 points. Aces flat in dropping 4-3 decision to Colorado Wednesday

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Tyler Fiddler scored two goals and goaltender Kris Lazaruk made 31 saves as Colorado knocked down Alaska 4-3 Wednesday night at the Sullivan Arena. Just one goal in the first period as Colorado’s Jesse Mychan buried his 31st goal of the season past Aces goaltender Lukas Hafner from the right circle at the 9:19 mark. Aces welcome back Breton

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA -The Alaska Aces have announced that forward Justin Breton will return to the club from Manitoba of the AHL, and that forward David Eddy has been released.Aces President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Rob Murray made the announcement Tuesday.Breton returns to Alaska after playing in two games with the Moose on a professional tryout agreement. He fired two shots in goal, zero penalty minutes. Breton returns as the Aces leading goal scorer with 22. He's added 16 assists for 38 points in 63 games for Alaska. [READ MORE]

Owuya, Grizzlies blank Aces 2-0 Saturday

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – Alex Krushelnyski scored the game-winning goal, Bryan Moore had a goal and an assist and Mark Owuya made 33 saves to help the Utah Grizzlies to a 2-0 win over the Alaska Aces and a sweep of the two-game series at the Maverik Center. Utah beat the Aces 6-2 Friday. Saturday, a largely nondescript first period had the Aces unable to score on two power play opportunities, and the Grizzlies one. Almeida, Owuya lead Grizzlies past Aces 6-2 Friday

WEST VALLEY, UTAH – Barry Almeida had 2 goals and an assist, Chales Sarault had 2 helpers and Mark Owuya made 26 saves as the Utah Grizzlies defeated the Alaska Aces 6-2 Friday at the Maverik Center. Alec Hajdukovich got the Aces on the board after Alaska weathered an early Utah storm. Hajdukovich was in the left circle surrounded by Grizzlies…in Alaska, a scary proposition, but in Utah he calmly fired a wrist shot that eluded Owuya for his 2nd goal of the season in his 4th pro game.
