Player Notes
Scott scored 17 goals during the regular season last year and finished fourth on the team with 60 points, but truly came to life in the postseason, tallying six times, including three game-winning goals. The 28-year-old Calgary native scored perhaps the most dramatic goal in the history of the Aces against Trenton at 9:54 of overtime in Game Six of the ECHL conference finals, giving Alaska a 2-1 victory. He also scored twice, including a game-winner, as the Aces swept Long Beach in the West Division Finals and forced overtime in Game Four of Alaska’s first-round series against Bakersfield by tipping in a shot from the point with 3.1 seconds left in regulation. The 6-1, 195-pound Scott played four years at UAA, leading the team in scoring twice and landing on the WCHA All-Academic team, before setting a Mississippi rookie scoring record with 67 points on 26 goals and 41 assists in 2003. He averaged a point per game in his first season with the Aces a year later and earned a promotion to the Providence Bruins of the AHL, where he earned a spot on their postseason roster. Scott has been at his best in the ECHL playoffs, with 17 career goals to his credit and three trips to the conference finals with three different teams (Alaska, Mississippi, Atlantic City). For the second year in a row, he will serve as one of the team captains in 2005-06. |
